Clothing –Â
Children should wear comfortable clothing to school so they will feel free to participate fully in all activities. Although we use washable paint and supplies whenever possible, some activities may be messy. Please consider this when dressing children for school. Children should be dressed appropriately for the weather as some daily activities take place outdoors. Also, an extra set of clothes should be kept in the children’s backpack in case of accidents while they are at school.
Birthdays –
If your child wishes to bring treats for their birthdays, please let me know the day before. Please make sure it is a packaged and purchased snack which is not opened when brought to school. If the child is having a birthday party outside of class no invitations will be handed out unless the whole class is invited.
Holidays –
Our class will celebrate all major holidays that follow our school and state calendars. More information will be given as holidays approach.
Snacks –
The school provides milk along with a snack. If your child has any food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible so accommodations can be made. Â
Toys from Home –
I ask that all toys from home be left at home. I do not want to be responsible for lost, broken, or missed placed items. There may be exceptions to this rule at times, such as show and tell days, or if a toy/item can be used as a learning resource.
Parent Participation –
Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children; therefore families enrolling children in preschool are also encouraged to participate in parent involvement opportunities throughout the school year. There are a few days throughout the year when parents are allowed to come in and join us. More information will be given, as these dates get closer.
Open Door Policy –
Parents and legal guardians are always welcome to visit the classroom. As a safety feature, all parents and visitors will check in at the office. Visitors are asked to please use discretion with regard to bringing babies and toddlers to school as young children may disrupt the classroom activities. Photo identification will be required for any unknown visitor to the classroom.
Delays and Cancelation –
Our classroom follows the school system when cancelations or delays are put into effect. Please tune into your local weather station for more information during severe weather events.
Illnesses–Â
If your child has a fever, please do not bring them to school until 24 hours after fever is gone.
Field Trips –
We will take several field trips throughout the year. Information about field trips will be sent home with permission forms for the children. These forms need to be signed and returned to me a week prior to the field trip. Parents are welcome to join us on the field trip experiences. Please note children have to ride the bus until we get to our destination and as we return to school, children will be allowed to go home with you from the field trip.
Homework “
The children will not normally have homework when the school day is finished. The homework which the children will have on occasions may include small assignments to help the children incorporate what they have learned.
